Description:
For owners of new businesses, both launched and soon-to-be launched, join faculty and law students from the Vermont Small Business Law Center of Vermont Law & Graduate School to hear about what legal matters you’ll need to complete or contemplate. Part presentation and part discussion, this session will examine many of the legal considerations for launching a professional venture. Topics will include choosing the right business structure such as creating an LLC, S-Corp, a partnership, or sole proprietorship. We’ll take a look at writing an operating agreement, making good contracts, and protecting your intellectual property. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to find the right lawyer as you build the foundations of your business: what to expect when you meet your lawyer, how to prepare for a meeting to get the most out of your time with them, and what help is available for finding a lawyer.
This session is provided through a partnership between The Hub CoWorks and participating faculty and students at the Vermont Law & Graduate School.
Afternoon refreshments will be provided to participants. While there is no charge to attend this event, you must RSVP here to reserve your spot as space will be limited to the first 18 registrations received.
