On a bright August day, The Hub CoWorks had the distinct honor of hosting the Vermont State Board of Education’s monthly meeting. The event was not only a pivotal moment for discussing key educational initiatives but also a shining example of how our community can come together to foster innovation and collaboration.

The day began with a morning retreat where Board members focused on establishing desired norms and refining their standard operating procedures. This retreat provided an opportunity for the Board to align on key principals and strategies, setting the stage for a productive afternoon session.

In the afternoon, the formal Board meeting took place, bringing together educators, policymakers, and community leaders who are all dedicated to shaping the future of education in Vermont. A highlight of the day was the opportunity for Board members to engage with the mentors and youth involved in the iBots program. This program, which empowers young minds to explore the exciting world of robotics, was a testament to the innovative spirit that we aim to nurture at The Hub.

One of the most engaging moments of the day was a live demonstration by the iBots team. Board members watched with keen interest as these young innovators showcased their competition robot, providing a glimpse into the hands-on, technology-driven learning experiences that the program offers. The demonstration was not only a display of technical skill but also a powerful reminder of the importance of STEM education in preparing students for the future.

As we reflect on this significant day, we are filled with pride and optimism for what lies ahead. The conversations held, the connections made, and the inspiring demonstration by the iBots team will influence the direction of education in Vermont. We are excited to continue to provide a space where important decisions are made and look forward to more opportunities to support the growth and development of our community.

Thank you to the Vermont State Board of Education, the mentors, and the incredible youth of the iBots program for making this day at The Hub truly special. Together, we are building a brighter future, one idea at a time.
