The Hub CoWorks Celebrates a Millestone

CEDRR Mixer at The Hub CoWorks, November, 2025

The Hub CoWorks marks three years of supporting the Rutland community this month. To highlight the evolution of the space over that time, we held a “Grand Reopening” at the November mixer of Chamber and Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR) on Tuesday, November 11. This mixer welcomed over 100 guests into The Hub CoWorks to tour the multi-faceted space and see our recent upgrades. Rutland Beer Works was on-hand with samples, and food was provided by Trio Community Meals and the Jerk Jamaican Mountain Grill at Killington Resort. Cammy Errington performed a wide range of songs in the one-time Ripley Opera House – which now makes up The Hub’s Community Workspace – while painter Carrie Pill brought a work-in-progress painting of Killington Mountain into one of The Hub’s art studios to work on some finishing touches. Clover Exploration set up activities, transforming one of the few offices spaces still available for rent at The Hub into a place where children could play for the evening, also providing space for their parents to make connections in the community.

As this mixer was held on Veterans Day, representatives from Rutland County VFW Post 648 set up a Table for One to honor Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action. Tom Rounds from the VFW shared the significance of the table with those in attendance and proceeds from the 50/50 Raffle were donated to the VFW.

A Public-Private Partnership between CEDRR and MKF Properties, The Hub CoWorks has spent the better part of 2025 collaborating with a volunteer committee to evaluate strengths and areas for improvements in the space and creating an action plan to make adjustments – both physical and philosophical. Working with owner Mark Foley and Robert Black, an architect and artist who rents an office at The Hub, plans were created to construct partial walls within the Opera House. These walls help to create a “neighborhood” for coworking hot desks, and they contain insulation that helps with acoustics. Acoustic panels have also been installed on parts of the ceiling to further help with sound-dampening. These improvements are just the first in a multi-phased plan to help the space evolve and continue to meet the needs of The Hub’s members and guests.

Matt Britt, who was hired as Community Growth Manager for The Hub CoWorks this past summer, reflected on this three-year milestone for The Hub. “I was in attendance for the CEDRR Annual Meeting three years ago, when The Hub was first introduced to the Rutland community. I remember being excited by its scope and size, as well as the energy surrounding it all. In my first few months of working here, I’ve been impressed by how many different ways people are using our space – we have people who come in daily, seeking to be part of a coworking community that can’t be found when working at home, while others are traveling to this area to take advantage of outdoor adventures in our region and use a hot desk to get some work done before heading back outdoors.”

Since its initial opening, The Hub CoWorks has opened its podcast studio, constructed additional offices which are leased to tenants on a monthly basis, and opened the first-floor Streetside Conference Room which is able to accommodate up to 75 people and is ideal for press conferences, fundraising gatherings, or larger meetings and training sessions. Two Learning Labs on the second floor, sponsored by Killington and Casella, are ideal for meetings of 12-40 people. The Hub also offers a wide range of options for coworking passes, from a half-day up to a yearly membership, so individuals can easily come in, get set up, and get to work. Users can also take advantage of private telecom rooms, various lounge spaces, and a self-serve café within the 24,000 square foot space.

Britt continued “Organizations large and small regularly use our conference rooms for board meetings and training sessions. Our podcast studio provides a unique opportunity for those who want to get their ideas out. It’s exciting to be part of an initiative that’s growing, and The Hub has shown over these three years that it’s a space which was built to foster progress and partnerships. We are grateful to MKF Properties and their construction team for their hard work and support in turning these ideas into reality.”
